My daughter is getting her audition rep together. She has 4 songs to choose from. Most of the conservatories/music departments state that they require 2-3 contrasting songs. My confusion lies in the definition of contrasting. Does it mean they need to be contrasting from different periods or would contrasting pieces from the same period be acceptable? I am not sure if by contrasting pieces the implication is that they would have to be from different periods.
